Doing Good Can Make you Feel Good: The Heart of Volunteerism

The month of August has been a challenging month for Girls Got This due to the stringent government restrictions and lockdown. Our movements in the communities were also limited. Despite all the challenges, we managed to deliver our mission and goal which is to help all the highly vulnerable girls in Cebu with the help from different partner organizations, and Local Government Units (LGU).

Distribution in San Roque, Cebu City

On August 4, 2021, Fundlife International Inc. coordinated with the barangay councilor of Barangay San Roque, Cebu City and distributed 30 Safe-at-Home Activity Packs to girls ages 12-17. As part of the activity, we conducted a community session on Self-Awareness.

The girls were instructed to create a self-identity map to write down their roles in the family, school, and community. They were grouped and tasked to share their self-identity map with the rest of the group.

The activity concluded through the provision of hygiene kits.

Hand-in-Hand with the L-NGO and LGU

As the COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing, Fundlife International partnered with Bidlisiw Foundation Inc., a local non-government organization, and the local government of Lapu-Lapu City for the distribution of Safe-at-Home Packs to the highly vulnerable children in care homes who were infected with the COVID-19 virus.

The organization donated at 49 packs to the highly vulnerable children through Bidlisiw Foundation Inc. and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) in Lapu-Lapu City.

The CSWDO of the city extends their heartfelt gratitude for the items they received which will be useful for the Homecare Facility.

“The heart of a volunteer is never measured in size, but by the depth of the commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.”

Teacher Mary Faith Barrio, a Marigondon National High School teacher, dedicated her time to distribute Safe-at-Home Packs to deserving girls in her locality. She even went the extra mile to hold the self-identity map activity for the girls.

In summary, even though there were challenges along the way brought by the pandemic, Fundlife continues to paint colors to the dreams of these children.
