The Municipality of Dulag, Leyte, recently held its Women’s Month culmination on March 28, 2025, with the theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.” This significant gathering aimed to empower women from all walks of life by raising awareness of their rights, celebrating their talents, and fostering holistic well-being. Through engaging discussions, interactive activities, and inspiring performances, the event provided a meaningful platform for advocacy and empowerment.
One of the event's highlights was Talentadong Babae 2025, a talent show showcasing the creativity and skills of Dulag’s women. The competition was judged by two esteemed FundLife staff members, Ms. Kimberly O. Lopez, Head of Operations, and Mx. Art Vincent P. Salem, Stakeholder Engagement Officer. Three exceptional winners emerged from the competition—two individual performers and one group act. Beyond personal recognition, their victories also brought funding to their respective barangays for project proposals dedicated to women’s empowerment.
Additionally, five consolation prizes were awarded, ensuring that all participants were acknowledged for their efforts and courage. The event placed great emphasis on the well-being of women, offering free wellness sessions such as manicures, pedicures, and haircuts. These self-care activities provided a well-deserved moment of relaxation and rejuvenation for the hardworking women of Dulag. FundLife also contributed by hosting an interactive Q&A game, where participants had the chance to win special kits and other prizes, making the engagement even more rewarding. An integral part of the event was the advocacy for women’s rights and protection against violence. The afternoon session featured an oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Desk Officers, led by Municipal Mayor Atty. Mildred P. Que, CPA. This initiative reinforced the community’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of women in Dulag.
Additionally, a discussion on Domestic Violence and Protection Orders was conducted by Alpha Phi Omega Theta Zeta Chapter of the University of the Philippines Tacloban Campus, with Atty. Rustumme Mirelle B. Reyes as the speaker. This session provided crucial information on legal measures and support mechanisms available to women facing abuse and violence. To foster mental resilience, Registered Psychometrician Ms. January Jeremy Justine Yanto, RPm, led a mindfulness exercise focused on positive reframing. This session encouraged participants to cultivate a constructive mindset, empowering them to face challenges with optimism and strength.

FundLife played a vital role in supporting the event by providing comprehensive communications assistance. The FundLife team documented key moments through photography and videography, produced a feature article highlighting the event, and designed informative pamphlets covering FundLife’s mission, VAWC awareness, and reporting mechanisms. To enhance visibility, we also created photobooth backdrops, selfie cards, and a branded photo frame. Furthermore, FundLife amplified the voices of inspiring women from Dulag by creating video reels that shared their stories and aspirations.
The Women’s Month culmination in Dulag was a testament to the strength, resilience, and potential of women. By bringing together advocacy, education, and empowerment, the event successfully united the community in the ongoing pursuit of gender equality. With strong partnerships, continuous support, and dedicated initiatives, Dulag is paving the way for a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and lead in a more inclusive and equitable society.
