FundLife successfully held the Girls Community League (GCL) Awarding Ceremony 2022 last June 25, 2022, at the Sampaguita Gym, Tacloban City. A total of 55 girls from 11 different teams, who came from different communities of Tanauan, San Isidro, New Cawayan, San Jose, and Calbiga registered to take part in the activities.
The league kicked off last March 2022 as part of the celebration of Women's Month. Since then, the teams took part in the scheduled match games on Saturdays.
Players from different teams and communities were mixed and matched to highlight friendships and camaraderie among GCL members. The league puts young women with diverse backgrounds from various communities with the same interest to compete as a team against their peers to be acquainted with the other girls. This GCL season particularly emphasized mutual respect for each member while developing confidence amongst the players and building stronger relationships among young women.
Within 3 months of participating in futsal matches and mentorship sessions, all teams showed their amazing skills in playing futsal while maintaining a good attitude towards other teams.
Armada Football Club and Sangkay Football Club emerged as champions in the under 17 years old and 18 years old futsal categories respectively. Mind Kill Crusaders team and Sangakay FC were recognized as the league season's Fairplay Champions.
