Future-Ready Girls: A Life Skills Plus Digital Literacy Success

On November 26 and 27, twenty-nine (29) determined and talented young women came together for transformative digital literacy training under the Life Skills Plus Program of FundLife’s Girls Got This initiative. This one-and-a-half-day event was more than just a workshop — it was a gateway to new opportunities and brighter futures. In today’s fast-paced world, digital skills are no longer optional but essential. For these young women, equipping themselves with these skills isn’t just about employability — it’s about empowerment. The Girls Got This initiative recognizes this and is committed to creating pathways for success through innovative and purposeful education.

The program covered a wide array of practical topics to prepare participants for modern workplaces. These included setting up and managing Gmail accounts, using Google Calendar to organize schedules, navigating Google Drive for file management, exploring creative design using Canva, familiarizing themselves with virtual collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and Zoom, understanding the basics of AI with ChatGPT, and simulating the role of a Virtual Assistant to experience real-world tasks. The sessions were designed to be interactive and activity-based, ensuring each participant could actively engage and build confidence in using these tools.

The participants hailed from seven partner schools in Tacloban: Tacloban Night High School, V and G National High School, Antonio Balmes National High School, Guadalupe Integrated High School, Northern Tacloban City National High School, Scandinavian National High School, and Tacloban National Agricultural School. This diverse group united by a shared purpose — to learn, grow, and dream bigger. Through their collaboration, they gained technical skills and built connections and support networks.

For these young women, the digital literacy training is just the beginning. The skills they acquire will open doors to employment opportunities and equip them to excel in a digital-first world. But beyond employability, this training instilled confidence, resilience, and the belief that they can chart their paths to success. FundLife’s mission is to protect, educate, and unleash the potential of vulnerable youth. Programs like this are a testament to the transformative power of purposeful learning and the unwavering belief in every girl’s ability to succeed when given the right tools and support.

These young women are better equipped to tackle tomorrow’s challenges, and we can’t wait to see them shine. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to create brighter futures together!
