FundLife signs MOU to Empower 200 HVAGs in Dulag

Dulag, Leyte – July 23, 2024 — A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Dulag National High School, Cabacungan National High School, and FundLife for the implementation of Girls Got This (GGT) project, marking a significant step towards empowering 200 highly vulnerable adolescent girls in the region.

The GGT project, is a transformative initiative designed to offer a holistic and experiential approach to life skills education, is focused on empowering marginalized youth, particularly girls. By creating a safe and nurturing environment, the project connects these young people with mentors and provides a range of workshops and training sessions that help them develop critical life skills.

The MOU outlines the implementation of GGT in Dulag, with a specific focus on increasing girls' participation in sports and community-based activities. Through the establishment of girls' futsal teams and other organized events, the project aims to create safe, secure, and accessible learning spaces for these young women.

One of the key goals of the project is to equip highly vulnerable girls with the psychosocial life skills needed to address personal and community protection issues. Through play-based and mentorship sessions, participants will develop strong self-awareness, improved self-confidence, and an enhanced understanding of their rights. These skills are expected to translate into better school performance and more active participation in school and community discussions on protection issues affecting young girls and women.

“This partnership will empower our schools to provide equal educational opportunities to students. The participation of girls from our school in this project will not only increase awareness of young girls' abuse but will also help them learn how to protect themselves. Aside from being able to establish a strong futsal team, we would also be providing girls an avenue to develop themselves,” said Mrs. Flora M. Pica, School Principal III of Dulag National High School.

Moreover, the GGT project is set to strengthen local capacities in managing female protection and empowerment initiatives. By raising awareness among female youth leaders and teachers, the program aims to foster a community that is more attuned to the needs and rights of young girls, ultimately paving the way for their greater participation and empowerment in various aspects of life.

The GGT project is a key project of female FundLife youth mentors who have taken part of the Champion pathway of Women Win - a key partner of FundLife.

The signing of this MOU is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to uplift and support highly vulnerable adolescent girls in Dulag, providing them with the opportunities and resources they need to succeed.
