In order to gain knowledge and strengthen the Life Skills Plus Program in partnership with Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation, FundLife conducted a Psychological First Aid Training for their Cebu staff together with the representatives from partner schools (Cordova Public College and Gothong Memorial National High School), and partner community (Brgy. Pahina Central) on June 14, 2023.
The resource speaker, Ms. Jenneth R. Aquino, RSCC Center Head from DSWD Field Office VII, explained the meaning of Psychological First Aid Training; what it is, what it is not, and the importance of it for the young children that the team works with regularly. She also shared with the attendees the details of the 1st Phase of Trauma Informed Care. The session ended with Ms. Jenneth R. Aquino informing the FundLife Cebu staff and other representatives of the Reception and Study Center for Children, a residential care facility managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The training aims to empower the staff, partner schools and communities by supporting and encouraging existing coping skills, and establish a human connection in a non-intrusive, and compassionate manner.
