Since Metro Cebu and some other cities in the province was on Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status from August 1 up to September 7, 2021, the community mentorship was put on hold. However, it didn’t stop the sessions with the girls in some other partner barangays while strictly following health protocols.

An Increasing Attendance in Barangay Guizo
Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City has been a partner barangay with Girls Got This Works since August 2021. The mentorship session in the first month had an average participant of 7 girls but as the session progresses each week, more girls have become active and eager to participate in the mentorship program. To date, there are now 27 girls who regularly attend the weekly session.

New Sessions with New Partner Barangays
Because of the quarantine status in Cebu City, the partnership with Barangay Calamba on Community Mentorship was put on hold last August 2021. Thus, with the lifting of the MECQ in September, 18 girls participated in the first session of the mentorship.
It was a fun mentorship session where the girls tackled their goals and dreams. Most of the girls said that they are inspired to follow their dreams despite the challenges and obstacles they are facing.
The community mentorship started with just a few girls participating but because of the girls sharing their experiences and learning from others, what started as only one barangay extended to three partner barangays – Calamba and Sambag 1 in Cebu City and Guizo in Mandaue City.
